I went out on my scooter today. I bundled myself up really well! It was cold, -7C, but the sun was shining, so it didn't seem as bad. I took this photo on my travels to the post office to mail my Christmas cards. This tree is a magnolia. I guess what struck me as interesting was the fact that it already has buds ready to burst forth with some beautiful blooms in about four months. A long cold winter is before us, but this tree gives me hope. Spring will follow. Nature knows it and now I find comfort in knowing it too.

Oh I hope they survive the deep freeze! Beautiful blue sky. You are also brave to go out on your scooter this time of year...my has gone into hibernation for the winter.

Maybe the buds need that extra special shot of cold to be able to create their special form of beauty. You certainly have created a beautiful photograph of the magnolia against perfectly blue skies.
ReplyDeleteI too look to the magnolias as a sign that spring will eventually come, and we won't be able to imagine the freezing cold and snow...our minds shielding us from the trauma kinda like not remembering the details of childbirth?
ReplyDeleteBlue sky is just love, and the branches etched against it are very delicate. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeletelovely blue sky!

ReplyDeleteNice shot, it's nice to be reminded that the seasons change when winter is upon us.
Your Christmas cactus is gorgeous, and Mimi is adorable!
I don't know what the tree is thinking, but those sure look like buds! I love the contrast against the blue sky!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! I love the contrast between the branches and the sky.
ReplyDeleteI love branches of trees against the sky.. those trees remind me of the almond trees where we used to live.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Brushstrokes.

ReplyDeleteIt is a practice run, for the buds!
ReplyDeleteLovely blue sky! Happy skywatching.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture and comforting thought!
ReplyDeleteI hope all the buds in nature survive. We had high temperatures untill 2 weeks ago. There were even newborn hedgehogs and birds making nests. Now it’s cold and covered with snow.
