On My Design Floor........

I know! I know! Blogtoberfest is over and I don't have to post something every day. But I just want you to see what I have done with the star lap quilt so far. They are not laid out in any particular order. I just placed them on the floor as I made them. The blocks measure about 10inches square, so if I have 4 across and 5 down, that will be about 40" by 50". Maybe a small border to make the quilt 48" by 58". Does that sound like a lap quilt size? Are those flowery fabrics too much? What do you think? I want your opinion!

  1. I think your quilt looks wonderful....flowers and all....

  2. Maybe add a narrow inner border - dark. The size sounds about big enough, but most of my quilts tell mee when they are done regardless of their dimensions. I like it - nice & scrappy.

  3. Oh yes you do still have to post every day. I have to know you are OK, LOL.

I like all of the florals but would add a little narrow plain border and then about a 3.5" floral border. The narrow border will emphasize the stars and the outer one the florals.

  4. I love it but think the small dark inner border is a good suggestion. I love starry-looking quilts!!!

  7. Well. I absolutely LOVE the busy-ness of that quilt.. and I think the layout is perfect JUST like that. I would not change the order or anything. 48x58 will be a perfect size. Yes.. go for it!

  8. I think it looks great - not too much at all. There is place for the eye to rest in the background of the stars.

  9. i think some dark grey boarders between the blocks and a bigger boarder around and you are finish. I love the hapiness that is comming from it.

  10. Your quiltblocks are wonderful!

It’s fine as it is, but if you really want to change something I would go for the light colour in your star blocks and make sashings and a smal border. I love (off-)whites in quilts. The colours pop-up so nicely!

  11. I'd keep posting but of course some comments from your regular bleaders would be nice! Sheesh. Listen friend, I love these blocks and I'd go with what Wanda offered up. Of course by now you'd be done with this one and onto another. Shamefully yours, *karendianne.

  12. Thanks for your comment on my SWF blogpost. I got sidetracked by your lovely quilting - went over to see the ones linked to your sidebar too. What a happy day that the woodworking course was full up! Your quilting is wonderful!
