Apple Picking

I have only made 2 hexie flowers since the last time I posted.  But that was only a few days ago.  I had wanted to make more, but we got too busy.  Maybe today I will get some more done.

Apple picking was on the agenda instead.

Sitting in the apple orchard.  Macintosh apples.

This is yummy!

A bushel of apples just for me?

Playing with the trucks and farm equipment.

I have to stay home today and wait for the Bell guy to come and fix the reception on my TV.. Nothing is working.  And I can't figure it out.

Cool Temperatures, Warm Heart on Grandparents' Day

After the hot, hot week we had, this past weekend was kind of chilly.  And it rained!  Oh how it rained!  But we needed it.  Today should be sunny and somewhat warmer.  But I woke up to 8C (about 46F) this morning.  Had to put a sweater on.  It's that time of year again.

Yesterday was Grandparents' Day.  This was my first one.  We took William grocery shopping and then over to our house for lunch in order to give my DD a break.  He was all smiles the entire time, calling out to everyone in the store which a loud, "Hi".  I think he really enjoyed himself.

On Saturday there was a pancake breakfast for grandparents, sponsored by our provincial government.  It was held at a fantastic play centre that my DD frequents often.  She picked me up and we went over there.  William had a blast.  He loves that place and knows where all of his favourite toys are kept.

The ball basket is one of his favourites.  He loves taking the balls out of the basket and throwing them all over the place.  My DD tried to direct him to throw them to her, but he found a mirror and decided he only wantrd to throw them to himself (his image in the mirror).  The mirror was tilted down, so he could see himself, but I couldn't.  He has a very good aim for such a little tyke.

He has also started to walk in the past month.  Oh, yeah, and to flush the toilet.  There is no stopping him now.  Only one more month to go and he will be one year old.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

I sewed a few more hexie flowers in the evening.  Think I will do some more this morning, as soon as I have had a coffee to warm myself up.

Some Hexie Flowers

I have been away for a long time.  Two weeks to be exact.  I have been sick, the weather has been very hot and I just haven't been inspired to sew anything.  Today is not a good day either. I just realized that this is the anniversary of 9/11.  I am also traumatized by the photo of the little Syrian boy who died on the beach.  Wish our country would do more for these people. But back to reality,  I have a dental appointment at noon.  Still have to take a shower, wash my hair and drive over to the mall on my scooter.  Hope it doesn't rain, even though we need it badly.

I only made 2 hexie flowers up until last Friday.  I had wanted to make more of them, but it never happened.

I decided that if I wanted to ever get this quilt done, I would have to make more flowers.  I thought 50 hexies a week would be a good number.  That would give me 7 hexie flowers for a total of 49 hexies.  Then I could make a few green hexies and meet my goal.  I didn't want to make my challenge too difficult.  50 hexies was fine with me.  That is only one hexie flower per day.

So by the end of the weekend I had made 4 hexie flowers to add to my quilt.  I was so excited! I was getting somewhere.  So I stepped up the hexie making and made a total of seven more this week.

That's a total of 13 hexie flowers since I last posted anything.  I am going to stick to this plan. Our Tuesday morning Friendship Group starts meeting again next week.  I would love to be close to finishing this quilt top.  I have so many plans for new quilts in my head.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
