Oh, No! Not Another New Project!

I really shouldn't be starting anything new!  I'll explain in a minute.

I am having a UFO quilted by my favourite longarmer.  But I have to iron everything first.  And...wouldn't you know it!  My iron stopped working!  I will have to go out and buy a new one.   But I have William today.  Nothing seems to be going my way.

But then I discovered a new quilt along.  This one is called 150 Canadian Women.   It is by Next Step Quilt Designs.  I'll try to find the website and link up to it later.  Edit:  Just go to Next Step Quilt Designs and join their site.  They will then send you the new blocks each week to your inbox.  There are 150 blocks, all done in red and white.  Next year is our country's 150th birthday.  This quilt will celebrate it.  The thing that I find interesting about this quilt along is that there are write-ups of 150 famous Canadian women.  I minored in Women's studies in university, so this is very interesting to me.

Each week there will be 3 blocks, until the entire 150 blocks are posted.  This is only week 2 so this is what I have completed so far.  I still have block 5 to do.

Leaves!

A cool, but beautiful day!  Time to play in the fallen leaves.

More Prayer Shawls

Still not much sewing going on around here.  I think I may have to buy a new sewing machine.  Can anyone suggest one?  What is your favourite?

I did finish a couple more prayer shawls.  These were very simple.  I am sort of getting addicted to these.  They make great evening crocheting.

As I drove along in my scooter yesterday, I noticed that there are not many red maples out there any more.  Still some yellows, but even those are getting scarce.

I hate to say this, but winter seems to be getting closer.  Soon it will be too cold for me to go out on my scooter.  Then I will have lots more time to sew.  So give me some ideas about getting a new machine.

Some Crocheting Going on Here

I've been absent for a long time.  Did not get much sewing done.  I had a bad cold that prevented me from sitting at my sewing machine and also kept me from attending my quilt groups and volunteer work.  In addition to that, I have also been fighting an infection on my foot which requires a nurse to come every other day to put a clean dressing on it.  She is not very good at that and the wound became infected several times.  I am still on antibiotics.  Tomorrow I have to see the specialist (who prescribed the treatment which wasn't followed correctly)  I am sure she won't be happy, but then, neither am I.

I have been doing a lot of crocheting though.  Been making prayer shawls for the church where I attend the quilt groups.  They give these away to people who need comfort.  I have been told these prayer shawls go all over the world.  I am glad to help.  The shawls provide comfort and they give me comfort to make them.  I wish I had a photo of the first one I made, but I forgot to take one.  Here is the one I delivered on Tuesday.  I have a couple more that I am working on.  Most of them are a combination of yarns because I am using my stash.

This one is bright and fall-like.  I am now working on some more subdued ones.  I hope to post photos of those soon.
