Another Tree Ornament

I forgot to add this photo to my Favourite Ornaments post.  I don't know what happened.  It was on my desktop, but got left out.  I made this ornament when I was into folk art and wood cutting.  I cut the shape out with my scroll saw. Then I painted it.  The trick was to carefully do the shading.  I made many of these ornaments, but most of them were given away.

Favourite Ornaments

Kathy from Kathy's Quilts asked if I had a favourite handmade ornament.  I have many.  Over the years I have made many ornaments.  When I was in my stained glass stage I made some cute little angels.

\

Then when I was into cross stitch I made several little ornaments from kits that I got at a craft shop which has since closed its doors.  They were so fun to make.  I wish I had a few more to work on.

And then a couple of years ago there were some little owls on the internet.  I made a huge flock of these.

I have many more favourites because most of the ornaments on my tree are handmade.  But I would take up all of my blog space.  So I am linking up with Cathy here.  I don't think I will have any time to work on some Slow Stitching today.  The family is coming over for Christmas dinner.  So until next Sunday.....

                  Merry Christmas to All!

Yesterday was our 50th wedding anniversary.  Notice that there are gold-sprayed salal leaves in the arrangement.

I haven't done a lot of quilting or sewing the past few days.  There just hasn't been any time.  Today we celebrated Christmas with our extended family.  The cousins played together all afternoon.

And tomorrow we will celebrate Christmas at our house.  It's a lot of work organizing and preparing a Christmas meal.  I'm tired.  I'll be glad when the holidays are over.

Wishing all my friends a very Merry Christmas!

Going To Do Some Slow Stitching Today

It's been a busy week.  Shopping, dentist appointment, doctor appointments.  And I did a lot of sewing.  Well, it seemed like a lot.  I made a few of those little trees Kevin the Quilter had on his blog.  They are so cute.  Today I will stitch the binding down.  We have tons of snow and ice.  But the sun is coming out now, so that is nice.  I will put on some CDs and listen to Christmas music while I sew.   Linking up with Slow Stitching at Kathy's.  She made some of those little trees too.  Go take a look.

Only one week until Christmas.  Yipes!

Just a Few More Blocks

I have been looking after my little grandson all week.  He has a bit of a cold and was having trouble sleeping, so my daughter thought he would be better off at my place.  He has his own room here.  Even though he was sick, he was still a bundle of energy.  I didn't have time to sew anything!  But I did get my 150 Canadian blocks done for this week.  Here are numbers 10 - 12.

I am also working on a new leaders and enders project.  Here are a few blocks that I have completed so far.

And one last photo of my Amaryllis.  It is just gorgeous right now.

Waiting For Tuesday

I am waiting patiently impatiently for the next installment of the 150 Canadian Women blocks.  They should be here today.  I am really loving these blocks and can't wait to do blocks 10 through 12.  But in the meantime I have been working on another prayer shawl.  I used up some leftover yarn.  Which was nice.  This shawl was in the booklet, "Let's Wrap" by Red Heart.  I didn't enjoy this shawl as much as some of the others.  Since each row was a different colour, I had to run in many ends.  Not my favourite past time.

I bought an amaryllis bulb a couple of weeks ago.  The picture on the box made the flower look kind of mauve, which seemed interesting.  It was called Apple Blossom and that also seemed interesting.   But the flower turned out to be pink on the edges with white in the centre.  I really like it though.  It's beautiful!  Today it has 8 flowers in bloom and is very top heavy.

Today is the last day of our Tuesday Friendship Quilters group before Christmas.  We are going out for lunch.  That should be fun!  And when I get back the 150 Canadian Women blocks should be here!

More 150 Canadian Blocks

I made the rest of the blocks that were posted so far by Next Step Quilt Designs.  I now have 9 of them and I am all caught up.  I haven't put the sashing onto them because I may just do a quilt-as-you-go technique.  I am having trouble doing large quilts.
