An Update

I have been busy with my spooltjes (klosjes) this weekend. I didn't make too many new ones, but I did sew some of the finished ones together. I have a grand total of 79 now.

I have also been cleaning up my sewing room, trying to find a couple of projects I remembered I had and wanted to finish. Alas! I couldn't find them, but I did find a hexagon template and decided to make some 'flowers' - it is springtime after all! I had no idea what I would do with them once they were finished, but decided to just sew them together as I make them. This is what I have done so far. I really love the hand piecing aspect. I find it so relaxing.

So many happy colours! Do you stitch the klosjes by hand?

Off to a very colourful start! I've always loved this pattern and I pieced together one of these in the '70s! I've just bought a set of plastic hexagons which I think will be more work than the paper ones.

Wonderful Hetty. The colors are just amazing. I think hexes are one of my favorites of all.

Your klosjes bring memories back from my youth. As children we each got an empty klosje to decorate with coloured ribbons and paper for Christmas. In the opening we stuck a candle, the kind we lighted the Christmas tree with in earlier times. And then on the night before Christmas we sat around the table each with our own lighted candle and sang and ate goodies.

Thanks for the memory, Hetty!

And yes, I love that quilt and also the flowery one.
