An Olympic Finish!
I have been working on this afghan for the past couple of weeks. It's lap sized, designed for someone in a wheelchair. I got the pattern from Talking Crochet. (Sorry I can't get the link to work) It's called 'I love Scraps'. I used a large (very large) ball of off-white yarn and a lot of scraps from my scrap bag. It was nice to be able to use up a lot of them. The coloured portions look like hearts, so it was fitting that I finished it last night, on Valentine's Day, while watching the Olympics. I worked an edge all the way around it. As I was doing that, Alexandre Bilodeau won the first gold medal in an Olympic event on Canadian soil, or should I say 'snow', in Moguls. So even though the edge is done in off-white, I am calling it the 'golden edge', not only because Bilodeau won a gold for Canada, but also because I was so proud of him and the love he showed for his older brother, Frederic, who has Cerebral Palsy.

the afghan turned out lovely ... I searched out the pattern, found it and saved it for later as I've got lots of scraps to use up
Your afghan is beautiful. I had tears in my eyes watching your countryman win that gold and seeing his devotion to his older brother with CP. I was happy that skier was the one to win the first gold for team Canada.
that is a neat design with hearts all through it.
My Christmas cactus is getting a few new buds right now too. It didn't quite make it for Valentine's day.
busy gal....love the afaghan!
Lovely blanket with all those little hearts!
Saturday night we watched ‘our’ Sven Kramer win the first gold medal for speed-skating
Your heart blanket is awesome! I just LOVE it and I LOVE how you used up scrap yarn too :)
