We just had our first long weekend of the summer. Traditionally it is the weekend to open the cottage, open the pool, plant the garden and do all kinds of summer stuff. But it was too cold! No planting got done. No plants were bought. We still had frost on Sunday night. So, while I was feeling sort of down because of my fish and the fact that I couldn't plant anything, I started thinking. That is usually not a good thing!
Look what's on my needles right now.
I found this tessellated pattern on the internet and decided to try it out. These guys are quick and easy and they look amazing!
I love this picture of a finished fish blanket that I found on the Internet.
I made about 18 fish this weekend. I have lots of yarn to make a lot more. And that is a good thing because I think I need about 200 of them to make a blanket!

Wow, an Angelfish! I’m not familiar with aquarium fishes, but this one looks so beautiful! And so does the fishy blanket! Sooo cool!

I ahve always loved that blanket, but the piecing might drive me insane. Yours is going to be beautiful.
And they swam and they swam all over the dam...
So sorry about your angel fish. When I read that and saw the photo of the fish I wonder if there was some silver lame and black fabric coming on a freehand block to memorialize your angel, then got down to the knitting part. How fun. Knitting is something I've never learned, either. I do so admire your creaativity

i'm so sorry to hear about your fish.
i love that blanket! i've always wanted to make one, but i've always been so intimidated about making so many of those fish then sewing them all up. i can't wait to see how yours looks. :)
I love angelfish so I'm excited to see when you get more.
Now, as to the knitted fishies, I love them but I'll do as I often do - live vicariously thru you since I don't knit! Keep the pictures of progress coming and I'll try to keep showing up.
Up for Air Love, *karendianne.
This knitted blanket is stunning! Are those fish easy to do? And how do you set them together? I have very basic knitting skills.. but if it is a simple pattern that I could repeat over and over.. I might be able to do it. I just love how that looks!
Love the fish blanket you are making. I would love to get the pattern from you. I probably won't make them right away, but it will be something for me to do over the next winter.
