There's Gold in Them Dare Trees

Day 22 of Blogtoberfest.

The sun is shining.  The temperature for today is 18C.  I decided to go out and look for colour - fall colour.  The leaves will not last must longer.  The wind is strong and is blowing everything to the ground.  But it still looks like a forest of gold out there.  The ravine is beautiful.  And I was able to take a few shots of other trees around the neighbourhood as well.  

I found other things in colour too.  Some rose hips among the golden leaves of the rose bushes along the path.  There were also a couple of roses still blooming.  Some pretty white asters were growing along the side walk.  Then there were the urns outside of McDonald's.  Can you believe that?  So beautiful with their mums and ornamental kale, and right outside the hamburger joint!  .  

I could have taken many more photos, but my battery ran out.  Not the battery on my camera, but the battery on my scooter.  I made it slowly all the way home, but it died in my driveway - wouldn't even go up the ramp.  So now it is plugged in outside by my back door.  As soon as it is working again I will bring it inside.  

Tonight is our monthly guild meeting.  I think we are having a good guest speaker tonight.  Hope so.

A Day of Rest

Day 11 of Blogtoberfest.

It's Thursday already and I am finally having a day to myself.  That's a good thing because I am tired, very tired.  I don't know if I am coming down with something or if it is because of the weather or because I have been very busy this week.  It is cold and windy today.  I plan to just work on some sewing.  Probably some hand sewing because I find that the most relaxing.  

The trees in our area are just starting to change their colours.  This is the view from the bridge I frequently travel on.  Those colours should improve over the next couple of weeks. 

Saturday = Errand Day

Day 23 of Blogtoberfest!

I have lots of errands to run today - shopping and banking etc. Then there is the laundry which I didn't get around to yesterday. I doubt that I will get much quilting done, although I did quilt one more block on my primitive flowers quilt this morning.

So I will leave you with a few fall photos. Today the weather is not so nice, but a couple of days ago we were at the peak of fall colour here. These first two shots are of the trees along side of the main road. There is a ravine below. I love riding past these beauties. They are mostly maples.

The next two photos were taken in the park. We have had an exceptionally colourful fall. I guess it has to do with this year's hot summer. And also the amount of rain; it was never too dry. There was colour in every direction. I could have taken hundreds of shots!

This last photo was of the Sumac at the end of the path, up by the main road. They were absolutely spectacular! I don't think I have ever seen them as red as this!

Beautiful Fall Weather

Today is day 16 of Blogtoberfest.

Not much sewing has gone on yesterday or today. It is just too beautiful outside! The sky is blue. The air is crisp. The trees are at their autumn finest. I am going to the quilt shop this afternoon. I need want to buy some fabric. I don't know exactly what I want, but I will know it when I see it.

I have been prepping some little hexies. These are all ready for sewing tonight while I watch W5. I need a few more, but that will have to wait until after I get back home.

A New Month called Blogtoberfest

October is here! The weather is getting cooler, but that's okay. It was way too hot this summer anyway. The trees are changing colour, and that is great! I heard that the colours of fall were created by a caring God so that we wouldn't all jump off a bridge when our Canadian winter is around the corner. The evenings are longer, so I can work on my hand quilting. And that is good! Lots of TV time for me and my handwork.

It is also the first day of Blogtoberfest. I think I did something like this last year. But a year has gone by and I have forgotten what it was like to have to publish a new post every day. This is my neighbour's tree. I wish it was mine! The colours are so brilliant this year. It's because of the hot summer we had. But summer is over now. This weekend I am going to have to take all of my tropical plants indoors because the overnight low on Sunday will only be 2C. My Hibiscus will not like that. Since my sewing room has slowly moved itself into the solarium (and other rooms) I will have to do some tidying up or I won't have room for all those plants.

Autumn Storehouse

Scenic Sunday #66

This Scenic Sunday #66, but for me it is the first time I have posted a photo. Click on the icon above to see more. It is definitely fall around here. We have had frost in the past several nights. All my plants are looking rather sad. But the trees are still beautiful! It's a good time to stay inside and sew!
