Bear Tracks in the Mud

This is my block for week 10 in the Friday Block Party. Can you believe that 10 weeks have already gone by this year? We have melting temperatures and rain - very spring-like, but I'm sure that will change in the next few weeks. Spring is not here yet. One week to go until March Break.

This block is called Bear Tracks. I used scraps from my scrap bin, which was nice. I did not have enough scraps to make the block in two colours, so I used four. It's a fairly easy block. Now that I have been practicing my half square triangles on a weekly basis, they have become quick and easy to make. I just can't decide how to put the whole block together. The pattern calls for a layout as in the above photo. But because I used four different fabrics, I sort of like the layout of the one below.

What do you think? I haven't sewn the pieces together yet. I'm going to wait to get your opinion.

I like the first one best....we don't have spring in American Samoa...the temperature varies only a few degrees.

My opinion is the second one and continue the scrappy look to the blocks...I am boxing up some sunshine and warm temps to send to you.

Love ya!

Looks perfect if you are asking me.. Great of you to use scraps. I am not good at that but I might improve when I see your Bear Tracks! Take care and have fun!!

Extremely excellent Hetty. I enjoy the weekends when we have a high and mighty chance of seeing some of your work.

I love this layout! You got it.

I like the first one best, but the second is nice, too. The first one gives it, to me, a more scrappy look. If that makes any sense...

Thanks for sharing, Hetty.

I never get tired of seeing your work. Even when you're working scrappy, your subunits go well together. Re the bear paws, my vote is for option 1.

I vote for #2 - it seems more organized and the resulting star is pretty.

I like the second layout better.
It looks somewhat more spring-like to me!

Love the scrap colours you used. I would go for the second plan. It just pleases me more. But that is just my opinion.

Spring was in the air last week, but now it’s back to rain and wind again!

Love the first lay-out, it’s more graphic and scrappy!

I like the second layout the best. I've also seen them with sashing between the paws. It sort of sets off the colors in the blocks more.
