Inspiration and a Block

My poppies are in bloom right now. I love this orangy-red colour. This is really not a good picture. The sun was shining directly onto the poppies, but it was dark and shady behind them. But I still love them!

When I saw this week's Block Party block, I didn't know what to do with it. It didn't turn me on and I couldn't decide on the fabric. As the week has gone on, I have been looking out at my poppies and finally I realized that my block for this week had to be made in reds - in honour of my poppies! So this is what I came up with. I didn't have that orangy-red colour, but this is close enough.

This is week 24's block. It's called, 1930's Square. Kind of a boring name for such a pretty block. And yes! Now that I have it made up, it is turning me on. Or maybe it's those Oriental Poppies.....mmmmm......like opium, the colour is intoxicating! Here is another happy poppy shot!
And a photo especially for Karendianne of Leehaven fame! It's Mimi guarding my fabrics!
"You're doing a good job, Mimi! Thanks. You don't mind if I put this photo on my blog, do you?"
"Meow! For Karen I will do anything! I love her blog and her menagerie! Hi Kanga, Duke, Sagan, Katie and Kismet! Meow to you all! Hope I didn't forget anyone."

Mimi is just the perfect thing to guard your stash. I said 'thing', maybe she's more human than we know. I do love cats... can't you tell?

Oh I'm so happy with this block and then I scroll down to see Mimi guarding the fabrics which does prove how useful cats can be! I smile, I smile.

And please do let Mimi know that since our numbers here roll over near "Tilt" it's fine to skip a few.

You should have created 2 posts from this one, as I was loving the flowers, but when I saw Mimi, well, let's just say, the poppies can't compare to her picture. It looks like she's learned how to do her job, ie guard the fabric, and catch a few winks at the same time. Smart cat! LOL.
